My goal is to provide authentic looking period correct
items. I design my metal work from period photographs and any historical
documents I may find. I use modern techniques to bend and twist the metal,
simply because at this time it is easier for me to do so in house.
Some of the items are welded with modern arc welding.
I freely admit that this was not available in the 19th century, however
I feel that a small weld on something like a flag stand is not going to
be seen or visible to the general public. I intend to clearly state on
the catalog and description pages which items are attached with a modern
welding technique.
All items are made of real American steel manufactured
by the U.S Steel corporation. This is hot rolled steel and extremely tough
and durable. It will not flake and rust the way imported steel will do.
I hand paint all items with black oil based paint, to provide a lasting
finish and good looks to each item. The campfire items I paint with 1200
degree stove paint..
